What can children do after they have learned to sail?
Once children have acquired basic sailing skills, there are several options for them to continue their sailing journey:
-
Practice and refine skills: Continued practice is essential to improve sailing proficiency. Children can participate in supervised open sailing sessions to enhance their skills and gain more experience on the water with or without Coaches.
-
Join our youth sailing programs: 24Seven offers advanced or youth-specific programs for children who have completed the basic sailing courses. These programs often focus on advanced techniques, racing skills, and more challenging sailing conditions. The commitment varies with the individual capabilities and goals.
-
Participate in regattas and competitions: Children who enjoy a competitive aspect can participate in local regattas or racing events. This allows them to test their skills against other sailors, learn strategic sailing tactics, and foster a competitive spirit. However, we strongly urge you to go through a structured program to ensure the holistic development for the child.
-
Explore different types of sailing: Sailing offers a diverse range of disciplines such as dinghy sailing, keelboat sailing, windsurfing, or even offshore cruising. Encourage children to explore different types of sailing to broaden their knowledge and discover new passions within the sailing community. We are happy to guide them on the options available.
-
Volunteer or assist younger sailors: Once children have gained sufficient experience, they can consider giving back to the sailing community by volunteering as junior instructors, mentors, or assisting younger sailors during sailing lessons. This provides an opportunity to reinforce their skills while helping others learn to sail.
